When the Romans first planted vines two millennia ago in what is now Burgundy, they quickly realized that some vineyards produced exceptional fruit. Centuries later, monks established a ranking system that confirmed this observation, and today only about 1% of Burgundy’s vineyards are ranked at the top, known as Grand Cru.
What is truly remarkable is how accurate this centuries-old ranking system still proves to be!
At this dinner, we will focus exclusively on wines from these Grand Cru appellations, featuring producers we all admire. Most wines will be served from magnums, with highlights including several vintages of Grand Cru Chablis Preuses, Clos de Tart, Ponsot, and an impressive duo of 1980s Bâtard-Montrachet from Meursault legend Pierre Morey.
